An early morning apartment fire in Jackson sends one man to the hospital.
The fire at the apartment home on Franklin Street broke out around 12:10 a.m. Jackson Firefighters tell us when crews arrived on scene, there was heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor. The fire had spread to the attic.
The house is made up of five units, and one man had to be rescued from the burning home. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No word on his condition. The other residents were evacuated safely. The American Red Cross was called in to help displaced families.
Firefighters had the fire under control in less than an hour. No firefighter was hurt fighting the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
