The Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened in Hillsdale County over the weekend.
On July 21, at about 2:20 p.m. witnesses reported that a vehicle traveling south on Allen Road had been involved in a roll-over crash. This happened at N. Allen Road just north of U.S. 12.
At this point in the investigation there doesn't seem to be a reason that the car left the roadway. They say it then reentered the highway after several hundred feet and overturned. At that point, the driver was ejected and the back of the vehicle rolled over him.
The driver, Ronnie Eugene Sprague of Coldwater, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 72-years-old.
Police think Sprague may have fallen asleep or lost consciousness before going off the road. There will be an autopsy performed.
Police are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them.
