A Jackson man will spend the rest of his life in prison for the shooting death of a woman nearly two years ago.
20-year-old Anthony Gelia also was found guilty Monday of first-degree home invasion and a felony firearms charge stemming from the November 2016 killing of 26-year-old Brittany Southwell.
Gelia broke into Southwell's home on Jefferson Street in Jackson back in November of 2016 and shot her.
A medical examiner said Southwell died from a bullet that entered her side and punctured her lungs.
A judge will hand down a mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole sentence to Gelia in May.
