A man has confessed to brutally killing a man in Jackson more than 7-years ago.
30-year-old Michael Beatty pleaded guilty to felony murder Tuesday in the death of 56-year-old Matthew Cramton.
Cramton was found stabbed to death in his home on West Coler Street in Summit Township in January 2009. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped the original charge of open murder and two related charges of first-degree home invasion.
Beatty has been in prison for several years for unrelated crimes.
Felony murder carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Beatty will be sentenced on January 5th.
His girlfriend at the time is also charged in the case.
Last month, a judge ruled there was enough evidence to send Tiffany Reichard to trial for the murder. She's charged with one count of open murder.
It's scheduled to begin next March.
