Jurors have seen the clothing last worn by a young woman whose body was found months after she disappeared from a Halloween party in southeastern Michigan.

The trial of Daniel Clay began Tuesday with opening statements from lawyers and the testimony of a dozen witnesses in Monroe County court. Clay is charged with murder in the death of 22-year-old Chelsea Bruck.

She was dressed as comic villain Poison Ivy while attending a 2014 Halloween party with hundreds of people.

Defense lawyer Russell Smith doesn't dispute that Bruck died while with Clay. But he says it was an accident during rough sex. Clay is expected to testify at some point.

In his opening remarks, prosecutor Michael Roehrig told jurors that Clay described himself as a "monster" when interviewed by police.
