Man arrested for crashing into apartments over weekend

BLACKMAN-LEONI TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Blackman-Leoni Public Safety confirmed on Monday a car vs. building situation that occurred over the weekend.

Apartments in Blackman Township were damaged Saturday morning.It happened early on May 4, just after 2 AM.

Officers were dispatched to Laurence Avenue and Argyle Street where they saw a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer had hit an apartment.

The blazer had been traveling northbound when it left the road, hit a parked vehicle, and then rolled before hitting the apartment at 2988 West Argyle Street.

Fox 47 was on the scene and could see heavy damage to a row of homes near Argyle Street and Airport Road, along with a hole in the siding of one apartment and a pile of debris outside of the home. And the window was broken on that apartment.

The driver of the SUV is a 39-year-old man from Jackson.

He took off on foot before officers arrived but was located and arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and "operating while intoxicated."

He was taken to Henry Ford Allegiance Health for treatment.
