PARMA, Mich. — A truck stop in Parma just off of Interstate 94 in Jackson County was the scene of a four-hour standoff with sheriff's deputies on Sunday.

Around 3:30 p.m., the Jackson County Special Response Unit raided a recreational vehicle.

Police say deputies tried to talk him out of his vehicle voluntarily, but he refused.

"Due to our prior interactions with him and his violent past, the Social Response Team was called out for their specialized trainings in these matters," the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff said in a statement to Fox 47.

The Jackson County Office of the Sheriff said the man was arrested. He was reportedly wanted for an outstanding warrant in Jackson.

The 51-year-old man has not been identified.

That standoff also put a restaurant on lockdown while deputies investigated.

"We are glad the disruption was limited and brief to the business and patrons and appreciate their patience and cooperation," the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff said in their statement.
