Man Arrested After Family Gathering Ended in...

A 26-year-old man from Lansing is under arrest for assault with intent to murder.

Eaton County Sheriff's Office deputies were sent to a home on West Street in Delta Township just after midnight Saturday morning.

They were responding to a shots fired report. People inside the home called 911, telling dispatch a fight inside the home during a family gathering ended in gunfire. Witnesses told deputies a man had physically assaulted his girlfriend and family members intervened, but were then shot at. Deputies found bullet holes in one of the victim's cars.

The Eaton County Sheriff's office says the suspect was leaving in a car driven by another man when deputies arrived on the scene, but law enforcement were able to stop the car and arrest the suspect.

Despite the gunfire, nobody was shot.

The 26-year-old suspect is in the Eaton County jail. He was arrested for assault with intent to murder, felonious assault, domestic assault, possession of a stolen firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm.
