"Mothers Against Drunk Driving" wants Michigan's "ignition interlock" law expanded. Right now judges can order breathalyzers installed in cars only when people are convicted of multiple DUIs or when their blood-alcohol level is .17 or higher.
Today MADD lobbied lawmakers to allow them for any drunk-driving conviction saying it will make our roads safer.
"Even if they're not completely in control with their alcohol use they're finding other safe ways to get about so they're using Uber cause they know they can no longer use their vehicle."
MADD says there has been a 28% increase in the number of drunk driving deaths in Michigan in the last year.
It says that number drops by up to 50% in states that allow ignition interlocks for all convictions.
