LANSING, Mich. — How many of you can say that you've been to the top of the Mackinac Bridge or even know someone who has? That very rare experience is being auctioned online through the East Lansing Educational Foundation. It closes May 20, 2019 @ 5PM.

When you ask someone: if you have the opportunity to go to the top of the Mackinac Bridge, would you do it? You'll likely hear, "absolutely not! No, never, terrified of heights," said Sheyona Watson, a resident.

Or you could hear, "yea oh my God that would be a nice day," said Christopher Bon, a resident.

And then there's, "I would say the older I get the more afraid I am of heights, but I think it's a once and a lifetime opportunity," said Lance Wimberly, a resident.

An opportunity only a handful get to see, 552 feet above the water to be exact.

"I would do it again in a heartbeat, it's an experience like nothing else," said Coss.

So, how do you get to the top? First, you crawl into a hole at the bottom of one of the towers to get to a phone booth-sized elevator. But that only takes you about a third of the way, so you then you'll crawl through more openings.

"It is dark, you have no orientation of where you are in the process until you literally get to the last tube where you crawl up a ladder," said Coss.

And follow the light at the end of the tunnel "and you POP your head out the top and you say I'm above the bridge this is incredible," said Coss.

"I think it's an incredible opportunity and they realize that's a big fundraiser for nonprofit organizations so I think it's amazing that they do that," said Coss.
