LANSING, Mich. — Another massive road construction project kicks off today in mid-Michigan.

Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is undergoing a multi-million dollar upgrade that will last through November.

Starting Thursday, the Michigan Department of Transportation is going to be repaving MLK between Edgewood Boulevard and Victor Avenue in Lansing.

MDOT workers are going to be moving signals out Thursday to begin closing down the right two lanes.

Once the signals are set up the construction will start.

This is part of the $4.6 million project to help repave MLK because currently the road is covered with potholes.

One lane in each direction and a center left-turn lane will stay open during construction, MDOT said.

This is all setting the stage for another major construction project.

Jason Early, construction engineer for Lansing TSE said,"Basically we need to get this done this year before I-496 and Waverly start next year because Waverly and MLK are parallel. So we want to get this one done and ready to go this year."

There will be day and night work throughout this construction.

The construction is set to finish on Nov. 15.
