LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Police Department said the victim of a shooting in Lansing Wednesday has died.

Police have identified the victim as 19-year-old Dhanthan Amadi-Devoe Boggan Jr.

Police said the incident happened around 2:40 p.m. when Lansing police officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Johnson Avenue regarding reports of shots fired, possible shooting complaint.

Once officers arrived at the scene, LPD said they were unable to locate the shooting victim, but they did find evidence of a shooting and witnesses.

Police said while officers were on scene, Ingham County Dispatch informed officers a male victim with a gunshot wound had arrived to a local hospital. LPD said the victim was driven to the hospital by an acquaintance.

LPD said officers went to the hospital where they later determined Boggan was the victim.

Police said the on-scene preliminary investigation determined Boggan along with several other people all knew each other and were gathered in the 900 block of Johnson Avenue before the shooting occurred.

Police said an argument began and Boggan was shot by a male subject.

LPD said after the shooting happened, the suspect and others ran from the area.

Police said officers and investigators were informed by hospital staff that Boggan had died Wednesday afternoon.

LPD said with assistance from the Michigan State Police K9 unit, officers searched the area for the suspect, however, he has not been located and is still at large.

The suspect is a black male in his 20's, LPD said.

LPD said the incident is now a homicide investigation and investigators are continuing to follow up on leads, gather evidence and interview witnesses.

If you have any information regarding the incident, you're asked to contact the Lansing Police Department at Detective Sergeant Beth Frazier @ 517-483-4659 or MSP Detective Jordan Kingsley @ 517-483-4495.
