LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Police Department held their second annual memorial bike ride Thursday.
The event began with a brief ceremony in front of the Police Operations Center.
Officers rode a total of 25 miles to seven locations where the Lansing Police Department's fallen brothers, sisters and K-9's paid the ultimate price.
"It's important for us to do, extremely important to never forget, Sgt. Brent Sorg, of the Lansing Police Department, said. " That's the motto of the police unity tour nationally is to never forget, and we need to memorialize and remember our fallen brother and sisters."
During the officers' ride, an honor guard member was placed at each of the seven sites. When the LPD officers passed on their bikes, the guard saluted them.
A rose was then left at the site as a way to remember the fallen heroes.
