Longer Shelf Life For Overdose Drug

Posted

Drugs used to reverse opioid overdoses may have a longer shelf-life than once thought.

The naloxone containing products Narcan and Evzio currently have a shelf-life of 18 months to 2 years, but researchers have found the two were chemically stable for at least 10 months past the expiration dates listed.

Researchers say extending the shelf-life may reduce the expense of replacing the products every two years while also increasing availability.
