LANSING, Mich. — Many people in mid-Michigan are worried about their friends and families who are in the path of Hurricane Dorian.
One woman from Hillsdale County is in Florida on vacation while many others are evacuating.
Amanda Farrar from Jonesville was on a cruise in the Bahamas last week.
"It was actually beautiful. You wouldn't have even thought that a few days later it would've been destroyed by a hurricane," she said.
Now she's visiting her dad in Ocala, Florida, which is about 80 miles north of Orlando.
"A lot of the gas stations down here are running out of gas. People are just trying to make sure their gas tanks are filled. I know some stores are running out of water and bread and things like that," said Farrar.
As of right now, she and her dad are clear of the direct path of the hurricane, but Dorian has put a damper on her trip.
"It's just a big waiting game. We're kind of not making plans on doing too much because we don't want to go to the beach and get stuck in a hurricane," said Farrar.
The storm is moving over the Bahamas at just one mile per hour and it's headed up the East Coast.
There will still be several more days of destruction from this storm.
