Local veterinarian offers to remotely treat pets

People who may wonder how to take care of their pets during this outbreak now have a new option as one local veterinary office moves to treat pets, remotely.

Just as you would see a doctor online, Family and Friends Veterinary Hospital can help treat your pet over the phone through an app called " Airvet ". This is to all clients they've seen within the past year.

"If your dog or cat has maybe a skin issue, and ear issue, those are all things that maybe we could triage over the telemedicine application and keep them away from from other people," explained Dr. Ryan Carpenter. However, for more severe issues in which a pet is not eating or vomiting, veterinarians will likely urge pet owners to bring them in.

The animal hospital is also doing curbside interactions in order to prevent people from having to go into the building.

This procedure will be in place through April 6th.

Family and Friends Veterinary Hospital is located at 6555 28th Street SE in Grand Rapids, MIchigan. Call or text 616-575-6520.
