Some local students got a history lesson hundreds of miles away from the classroom last week.

Students from Mason Middle School had the honor of taking part in a wreath-laying ceremony at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday, May 13.

The students visited several memorials and sites around our nation's capitol as part of a five-day trip with the Mr. Scott Shattuck's 8th grade U.S. History class. We're told he's been taking students on this trip for close to 20 years. Other stops along the trip included the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, the Civil War battlefields in Gettysburg and George Washington's home in Mount Vernon, Virginia.
