The Wharton Center at Michigan State University teams up with local elementary schools to get kids interested in the arts through the Eye For Broadway program.
Saturday, students from Dansville and Bath Elementary Schools were at the Wharton Center showing off their artwork based on "The Sound of Music."
One class used the characters and the mountains for inspiration. Another class decorated guitars.
Later, students will get some facetime with "The Sound of Music" performers, when they visit the classroom for a Q&A session, says fifth grade teacher Elana Waugh of Bath Elementary.
"The Sound of Music" plays at the Wharton Center from February 19th-14th. The students' artwork will be on display and for sale during this time. Money earned will in part pay for local kids' transportation to shows at the Wharton Center.
