LANSING, Mich. — Now here's a question for you, do you have anything special to do the day before Christmas?

Maybe you sing your favorite Christmas songs or bake a special dessert. FOX 47 News's Alani Letang took to the streets to ask people what their holiday traditions are.

"My fiance and I like to get a bottle of Kraken Rum and some eggnog and have ourselves a little alcoholic egg nog at night after the daughter goes to bed," said Matt Swix, a local resident.

Local resident Matt Swix told News 10 the day before Christmas is a feeling of relief knowing, " that everything is done and enjoy with our family and decompress."

For others, they said family time is always key, but their sense of relief is celebrated differently.

Another local resident Benjamin Schartow has been celebrating Christmas Eve with his three kids the same way when he was a kid.

"My mom still calls us every year and said do you still want Pajamas for your kids. And as a parent who doesn't want new pajamas for their kids," said Benjamin Schartow, a local resident.

Schartow recalls going to church with Nana the night before Christmas, going back to have a family a party before slipping on a new pair of pajamas to waking up in.

"It has been a lot of fun to see the old traditions I grew up in. And of course my mom want's to carry on some of the same traditions for our own kids," said Schartow.
