Local man arraigned on child pornography charges

LANSING, Mich. — A local man has been arrested for child pornography.

George Burns, 33, of Lansing is charged with child sexually abusive activity and using a computer to commit a crime, according to the Michigan State Police (MSP).

The MSP Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, along with Lansing Computer Crimes Unit (CCU), handled the investigation, which was a started by a tip on the internet.

MSP say that Burns was located at a shelter in Lansing and a search resulted in the seizure of "multiple internet capable devices."

They added that Burns has been in custody on unrelated charges since October of last year.

He has been charged with the following:
- four counts of child sexually abusive activity
- four counts of using a computer to commit a crime

He was arraigned on June 5 with a $150,000 bond.

If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison for child sexually abusive activity and 4 to 20 years in prison for the counts of using of a computer to commit a crime.
