Area kids gathered today to celebrate new ideas in globe summer camp.
The kids involved are from refugee families that are new to Lansing, and they come from all over the world.
There were some ideas about creating a soccer complex where kids can play for free, and others talked about a business plan to create a homeless shelter.
Through the globe camp, students participated in activities that bring together people with different backgrounds with the goal of making a difference in their community.
More than 70 students spent six weeks in the globe camp, learning about their city and sharing their ideas on how to make it better.
This is just one project within the refugee development center. They also provide English classes for adults and make home visits to new families that move into the area.
