On April 4, 1968, a 21-year-old Mary Ellen Ford stood right below the balcony where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood.
She worked as a waitress and cook at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
And just hours before King was shot, she had delivered food to his room.
"He was lying on the bed when I went to go take the food to him," she told FOX 47's Alani Letang.
Mary Ellen Ford, now Norwood, was an eyewitness to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Junior.
She was witness number 43 and she only recently began to talk about that night.
"It was my story, and I never thought about telling anybody, because it belongs to me. It was mine and I never thought about sharing it with anybody."
Alani Letang sat down with Mary Ellen and will have the full story for you on FOX 47 at 10 PM.
