JACKSON, Mich. — For many -- Easter Sunday includes spending time with family that you don't always see.

But what if you don't have family to spend it with?

That's when the Queen of Miraculous Medal Church in Jackson steps in.

For the past 20 years, on Easter and Christmas, the church feeds anyone who walks through the doors. Whether it's someone who just wants company or someone who needs the food, all are welcome.

"We're trying to provide a great atmosphere for the people who are lonely, new, or who have lost a loved one and they're looking for a place to come for some fellowship or make a new friend and have a great day," volunteer Steve Clement said.

For the people who attend, it means the world.

"I'd be all alone for Easter if it wasn't for this. I feel like I'm with my family, like this person right here and he is. Every year I run into new people," Theresa Porter said.

"Really nice to get together with these people every year because I'm a peoples person and its an upliftment," Rosquillo Romy added.

In addition to the meal, the church also offers rides to and from the event and sends them home with meals. Volunteers say it feels good to spread happiness and give people a place to go during the holidays.

"There's a lot of people around the holidays--maybe they've lost a loved one or have something going on in their life...and they're a little lost, confused, lonely. It's a good way just to get people together and bring the community together," Clement said.

The church has meals every Easter and Christmas. If you would like to volunteer in the future click here.
