LANSING, Mich. — Joe Drolett, former Delta Township Supervisor, died Sunday afternoon.

Drolett's son Matt alerted Fox 47 to the news of his father's passing on Monday.

Joe Drolett spent his life in Lansing.

He was a Delta Township Supervisor, to date the longest serving Supervisor in the township, as well as a Trustee.

In December 2018, the Delta Township Board honored him by renaming the community center after him.

The Joseph E. Drolett Community Center became official December 18.

"Joe Drolett has had a profound impact on the growth and development of our Township," said Supervisor Kenneth R. Fletcher. "Those lasting effects are his legacy left to the citizens of Delta and the Township Board wants to ensure that his contributions are never forgotten."

Matt Drolett told Fox 47 that his father passed away after a two-year struggle with cancer.

He was 81 years old.

No specifics on the funeral have been released at this time.
