LANSING, Mich. — A five-city tour is making a stop in Lansing Thursday night to talk about Michigan's HIV laws--The Salus Center along with other LGBTQ+ organizations are leading the conversation.
Organizers say this conversation targets gay and bisexual men, to educate the community about HIV criminalization laws and the minority groups they believe the laws impact.
The title of the discussion is "Sex, Hooking Up and the Apps," but the focus is on more than just dating apps.
Organizers say it's about educating people about disclosing your HIV status upon meeting and laws that criminalizes the failure to do so.
"If we look at the people who are being criminalized for their status are people who belong in the LGBTQ community and we don't want these communities targeted under the law for not disclosing their status," Nhoua Yang, Lansing Area AIDS Network Prevention coordinator said.
The conversation is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. at The Salus Center.
