LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Community College will host an informational Open House 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29 at AIS Construction Equipment Training Center, 3175 Remy Drive, Lansing.

The Open House will provide information on heavy equipment repair programs offered through LCC’s Heavy Equipment Repair Technician program (HERT), Eaton RESA Heavy Equipment Program and the AIS Heavy Equipment Technical Institute. Instructors will be on hand to provide detailed program information and answer questions.

Area employers are in need of highly skilled, well-trained, heavy equipment repair technicians to troubleshoot and maintain their big equipment. These positions diagnose, adjust, repair or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as cranes, bulldozers, graders, and conveyors used in construction, logging and surface mining. The average starting wage is around $24.48 an hour.

LCC’s HERT program lead instructor Anthony Wieber said, “A heavy equipment repair technician learns more than mechanics. The program includes instruction in hydraulics, electrics, and troubleshooting. This is a great career path for those who are detail-oriented and like to work with their hands.” Wieber added, “There is a huge demand for heavy equipment repair technicians, not only here in Michigan, but across the country. This career field offers constant open positions that are challenging, rewarding, and offer great pay, benefits and opportunities for promotion.”

The Open House is FREE and includes a buffet style meal, but registration is required. Please RSVP by Jan, 20, 2020 to Anthony Wieber at twieber@aisequip.com or by calling or texting (989) 666-2353.
