LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Community College will hold a virtual commencement ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, to celebrate its 2020 graduates.
The planned in-person commencement ceremony, scheduled for the Jack Breslin Center in East Lansing, was canceled due to the coronavirus health crisis.
“To gather for a traditional ceremony could not be accomplished safely at this time,” LCC President Brent Knight said. “This virtual gathering allows our graduates to be recognized for their hard work and accomplishments and celebrated by their proud family and friends.”
LCC’s 62nd commencement ceremony will include remarks from President Knight, and Provost Sally Welch will confer degrees.
The ceremony will be available at https://www.lcc.edu/graduation [lcc.edu] and on LCC’s Facebook page.
“We know that this is not the celebration our students and their family and friends planned for, but we want to celebrate our graduates and wish them well as they begin their journey forward in life,” Provost Welch said.
All 2020 graduates are invited to return in 2021 to participate in the traditional ceremony.
