LCC prepares to host graduation ceremonies

LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Community College is set to host its spring graduations and commencement.

The schedule of events across Lansing is as follows:

Corrections Officer Academy – 2:30-5 p.m. Friday, April 26, LCC West Campus, 5708 Cornerstone Drive.

Radiology Pinning Ceremony – 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, Michigan Room, Gannon Building, Downtown Campus, 411 N. Grand Avenue.

Police Academy – 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 3, LCC West Campus, 5708 Cornerstone Drive.

Dental Hygiene – 6 p.m. Monday, May 6, Dart Auditorium, 500 North Capitol Avenue.

TRiO Graduation – 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, Grand River Room, Gannon Building, Downtown Campus 411 North Grand Avenue.

Early College Convocation – 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, Gannon Building Gym 3rd floor, Downtown Campus, 411 North Grand Avenue.

Fire Academy – 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, LCC West Campus, 5708 Cornerstone Drive.

LCC Commencement – 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 9, Jack Breslin Student Event Center, 534 Birch Road, East Lansing, Michigan. The commencement speaker, Dr. Robert Green came to prominence while working as the education director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) in the mid-1960s under the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and former United Nations Ambassador and Dr. King confidant, Andrew Young. He is the former president of the University of the District of Columbia, and former dean of the College of Urban Development at MSU. Currently, he is dean and professor emeritus and distinguished alumni of MSU.

EMS Graduation – 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 9, Dart Auditorium, 500 N. Capitol Avenue.

Early College End-of-Year Celebration - 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, Gannon Gym, 3rd floor, 411 North Grand Avenue.

High School Diploma Completion Initiative (HSDCI) – 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, Health & Human Services Building (HHS), Downtown Campus, 515 Washington Square.

LCC’s TRiO is a set of federally-funded college opportunity programs that motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their pursuit of a college degree.

LCC graduates from EMS, Police and Fire Academy account for a majority of the region’s first responders, police and fire personnel.

The Nursing Program has been nationally accredited for more than 40 years. Three-quarters of all regional allied health professionals received their training at LCC.
