LANSING, Mich. — LCC bid a fond farewell and thank you to its retiring president Dr. Brent Knight on Friday, June 12 with a surprise parade.
Due to COVID-19 and physical distancing restrictions the college was unable to plan a celebration of Knight’s 12 years as president. Much to his surprise LCC rolled out a motorcade of well-wishers to let Dr. Knight know how much he means to LCC and the Lansing community and how much he will be missed.
Over 60 cars along with the LCC motor coach, classic 1966 Toronado, REO truck, LCC police vehicles, fire truck and even the LCC ice cream cart were all participants in the motorcade that filed passed his home as he watched from his front lawn.
Under Dr. Knight’s leadership the college has received both state and national recognition for its cutting-edge programs and state-of-the-art facilities. He has been a true visionary that inspired the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff and students. The harmonious relationships he developed led to improvements in student performance, integrity-based fiscal stewardship, and campus renovations that will serve the college well into the future. Unlike traditional academic leaders, Dr. Knight’s successful career in private business, coupled with his extensive experience in higher education worked to shape LCC into a learning powerhouse. His passion and drive set the tone for innovation and excellence that will leave a lasting impression on the college and those it has served.
Well done Dr. Knight!
