Former MSU and USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar has pleaded guilty to two counts of obtaining and possessing child pornography, and one count of destruction of records.
Nassar signed the plea agreement on June 23, 2017. The charges Nassar pleaded guilty to are Receipt of Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography, and Destruction and Concealment of Records and Tangible Objects.
The charge of the Receipt of Child Pornography carries a sentence of five to twenty years in prison. The counts of Posession of Child Pornography and Destruction and Concealment of Records and Tangible Objects each carry a sentence of up to twenty years in prison.
As part of the plea bargain agreement, the U.S. Attorney's Office agrees to dismiss the original indictment against Nassar and agrees not to further prosecute him for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual exploitation of children, related to an incident that is alleged to have occurred in Nassar's swimming pool in the summer of 2015, involving two children. He will also not be prosecuted for engaging in interstate/international travel with intent and engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places, relating to conduct that is alleged to have occurred between 2006 and 2013 involving two other children.
Nassar still faces a criminal trial for three Michigan sexual assault cases.
