A suspect who is believed to have committed at least five larcenies from stores in Jackson County was arrested after leading police on a short pursuit and crashing into a ditch, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Just after 10 p.m. Sunday, Blackman-Leoni Township Department of Public Safety was dispatched to a report of a larceny from Walgreens on E. Michigan Ave.
A shot time later, a Jackson County sheriff’s sergeant located the suspects vehicle on S. Elm St. and Page Ave. a shot time later. The sergeant attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled and crashed into a ditch at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Avenue C. in Summit Township.
The driver then fled on foot, and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports the suspect was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.
The suspect was lodged for fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing and operating while intoxicated 3rd offence, the sheriff’s office reports.
It was later determined that the suspect had committed at least five other larcenies from stores in Columbia Township and Blackman Township on Sunday morning, the office says.
