Yvonne Caamal Canul received the national superintendent's "Women in School Leadership Award.
The ceremony took place at a recent education conference in New Orleans.
The award was created by the national school superintendents association and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
It recognizes female educators who are making a difference in the lives of students.
