LANSING, Mich. — Monday the doors opened to the remodeled Dwight Rich Performing Arts Academy in Lansing that was part of a multi-million dollar renovation project.
A student performance opened the newly remodeled school.
Lansing started school about two weeks ago but Monday marks the first official day Dwight Rich students can go inside the classrooms.
The updated school was definitely worth the wait.
The school shows off the $17 million worth of performing arts renovations including a new auditorium, band room, choir room, multi-purpose room, art room, and support spaces for performing arts.
The renovations also included new rooms for Pre-K and kindergarten.
Lansing Superintendent Yvonne Caamal Canul said, "Our kids are really talented I mean they're so talented. And I think this gives kids an opportunity to express their passions about learning and gives them another way of being engaged with the community."
This renovation project is part of the districts $120 million bond motion.
That money will be funded throughout the district.
Everett High School will be the next school to get a major facelift. That'll take place within the next three years.
