McLaren Hospital in Lansing is now better equipped to handle traumatic injuries.
On Wednesday, McLaren Greater Lansing announced it has level three trauma certification. The hospital will have more staff on hand to treat serious injuries like strokes, car accident victims, and gunshot wounds.
Doctors say the designation also guarantees safe, effective treatment for patients and their families. Dr. Troy Ferguson said, "Their patient did well, maybe survived a traumatic event whether it be a car accident, and received very advanced, very efficient, very safe care."
McLaren Lansing is now the third level three or higher trauma center in Mid-Michigan. Henry Ford Allegiance is at level two, and Sparrow Hospital in Lansing is level one.
