Lansing Police officers will be at Pattengill Academy today to assist the Lansing School District with public safety.
A 15-year-old girl was shot Friday afternoon in the parking lot of Pattengill Academy as school was letting out for the day. The man wanted in connection with the shooting is now in custody.
Lansing police say Kahlil Jamal Withers-Fleming, age 21, turned himself in Sunday afternoon. Police say he is a person of interest.
The girl was shot inside an SUV in the north parking lot of the school. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries at Sparrow Hospital and released. She continues her recovery at home.
The weapon in the shooting has been recovered, and Lansing police say there are no other suspects wanted in connection with the shooting investigation.
LPD investigators along with Michigan State Police continue to gather information and interview witnesses.
