The Lansing Police Department is expected to join forces with the Michigan State Police today for the 'Secure Cities Partnership', which is now in it's fifth year.
The program increases the amount of state troopers in areas with higher crime.
The partnership has reduced crime in Detroit, Flint, Pontiac and Saginaw.
Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and police chief Mike Yankowski will announce the partnership at a news conference this afternoon.
