A court hearing is scheduled Wednesday morning for the man facing more than a dozen felony charges, including shooting his ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend.
32-year-old Michael Burton is facing up to life in prison if convicted in the death of Lawrence McDonald.
Police say Burton shot and killed McDonald on Cleveland Street on May 9. Investigators say he tried to drive away from police but crashed on US 127 near Dunckel Road. That's when police say Burton carjacked a good Samaritan who pulled over to help him.
Burton was later arrested by police in Livingston County.
A judge ruled earlier this month that there was enough evidence against Burton to move the case forward.
