Lansing motel homicide suspect arraigned in court

LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - A suspect in a Lansing motel homicide was arraigned in 54-A district court Saturday.

25-year-old Curtis Echols from Ohio was arrested and is being charged with one felony count of open murder.

Echols was taken into custody near South Bend, Indiana on unrelated charges.

43-year-old Christina Daughenbaugh of Lansing was found unresponsive at America's Best Value Inn on the 1100 block of Ramada at 11:50 a.m on July 7.

Motel employees made the discovery and called police.

An autopsy ruled the victim’s cause of death as a homicide but police haven’t revealed how Daughenbaugh died.

Michigan State Police detectives are working with Indiana law enforcement on the homicide investigation.
