Mayor Virg Bernero has modified the snow emergency declaration for the City of Lansing. You can park on the street, if the snow has already been cleared, starting Friday morning.

However, vehicles that have been on the street since the snow storm will continue to be subject to parking tickets or towing, regardless of whether or not the immediate areas have been cleared. The city's year-round prohibition on street parking between 2:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m. remains in place. The modification to the emergency order takes effect on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 6:00 am.

The city is reminding residents that they need to clear snow and ice from their sidewalks as soon as possible to allow foot traffic. City workers will begin enforcing the 24-hour requirement at 10:00 AM Friday, February 26, 2015.

The city continues to plow city streets at a steady pace. They expect to begin plowing residential and neighborhood streets on Thursday afternoon. The city says they expect it will take several days to complete clear the city's 440 miles of residential streets.
