Walter Fries turned 100 years old on Friday!

He was born in NYC, and is a World War II vet - serving at an aircraft repair station in Northern Africa known as Secret Project 19 as a proud member of the Merchant Marines.

After the war he was employed by Olsmobile as a service manager and was transferred to the Lansing area in the mid 70's where he still lives with his first and only wife, Grete.

Walter Fries has been happily married for 70 years!  and as he has told his family in the past, in those years "never an argument!.... that I won."

Walter Fries is a lover of music, travel and adventure, and he still does the Sudoku puzzle every day!  Walter and his wife raised 6 children and have 7 Grandchildren, 3 "Step-grandchildren" and 1 great grandson.

Walter and his family got together this past weekend at the Lansing Liederkranz Club to celebrate his Centennial - there were over 80 guests including 20 family members and one niece from Australia!
