New details about the Lansing Mall's new curfew on children age 16 and under. Beginning this Friday night, children and teens ages 16 and under will not be allowed in the mall on Friday and Saturday nights after 6 p.m. unless they are with an adult. That adult must be age 21 or older.
The Lansing Mall says its new "family night program" is in response to feedback from the community about large groups of teens hanging around the mall on the weekends.
Any minor caught in the mall, without either a parent, or identification to prove they are older than sixteen, will be asked to leave.
Teens/Tweens/Children who are at the mall on weekend nights with adults must stay with that parent or adult the entire time.
One big question many parents have: What about the movies?
Regal Stadium is at the mall and teens and kids love to go to the movies.
Regal says children and teenagers will be allowed to go to movies after the mall's 6 p.m. curfew, however they will have to use the outside entrances by Regal Stadium. The same policy applies to businesses and restaurants with their own entrances.
Another question many parents have is what about teens who work at the mall? We are told if they work at the mall, they must go directly to the store where they are employed, if it is after 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
