LANSING, Mich. — On Sunday, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor signed a sister city agreement between Lansing and Otsu City, Japan.
Sunday marked the 50th anniversary of the first sister city agreement.
Also making an appearance was Otsu Cities Mayor, Naomi Koshi.
There are at least 15 cities in the state that have sister cities.
To those involved, being able to learn about different cultures is what makes the agreement so meaningful.
"A lot of different exchanges, not only of people but of ideas, of culture, of business and so on. It continues to expand." Said Marilyn Schlief with The Sister City Committee
There will be a 13-day trip this August to Otsu.
