The cities of Lansing and East Lansing announced Friday that fireworks will be allowed over the fourth of July. That means Lansing fireworks show Monday night will continue.
Meridian, Delhi, Delta and Alaiedon Townships and Grand Ledge have issued bans on fireworks. The fire chiefs from those communities announced their decision at a Meridian Township fire station Friday morning.
The chiefs say extremely dry conditions make it too dangerous to use fireworks at the current time.
Meridian Township's fireworks show scheduled for Monday has been postponed to later in December.
The bans will not block the sales of fireworks in the communities.
Previously announced bans on open burning will continue in effect.
