Lansing Community College (LCC) is abuzz as they prepare to welcome new and returning students back to campus.

Welcome Week is an annual event held every fall semester that provides a great opportunity for new students to become familiar with the campus, learn about available support services and make new friends. The celebration which kicks off Thursday, Aug. 23 and runs through Friday, Aug. 31 - is filled with great food, fun activities, games, giveaways and prizes.

Highlights of the week include Engage Family Day, 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Downtown Campus. The picnic-style lunch will feature face painting, outdoor games, a resource fair, an appearance by Lansing Lugnuts mascot Big Lug, a tour of the campus, inspiring words from college leadership, and a chance to win prizes like a new laptop, Beats by Dre headphones and LCC gear.

Later in the week the ultimate party, “Party with the Prez” kicks off 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, on the Downtown Campus Mall. The event, hosted by LCC President Brent Knight, features a giant bounce house obstacle course, giant Jenga, putt-putt golf, cornhole, basketball, sidewalk chalk fun, giveaways and a chance to play games with President Knight.

Welcome Week is an LCC tradition that gives students an amazing start to their college experience and prepares them to be successful as an LCC student.
