LANSING, Mich. — Lansing Community College will host a ribbon-cutting, reception and dedication Friday, Nov. 22 from noon – 1 p.m. to welcome Upward Bound, the newest sculpture to grace its Downtown Campus.

The stunning piece located in the center of a new quadrangle in the heart of campus soars 43 feet into the air and consists of three vertical beams in vibrant, extraordinary colors with eye-catching reflections set on a uniquely engineered 50-ton base.

The iconic sculpture is one of the largest in Michigan and will become a destination for visitors to the region, and a defining monument of LCC and downtown Lansing for generations to come.

Upward Bound was made possible through a generous gift from LCC Trustee Andrew Abood and his family to honor their mother, Patricia.

Upward Bound was designed by Matthew J. McGaughey of MAYOTTEgroup Architects.

The event is free and open to the public.
