LANSING, Mich. — After seven years and seven amendments, Lansing City Council is ready to move forward with the Red Cedar Project.

The purchase agreement is lifting a $38 million weight off the city, releasing the responsibility of any bonds.

The Red Cedar Project will be built along Michigan Avenue across from Frandor. The project will include two hotels, entertainment, a 22-acre park, and restaurant, while accommodating multi-generational housing.

This will include 120 assisted-living units, student housing, and 30% of the market rate apartments will be two-bedroom units to attract families.

Council members mentioned that they are attracted to the project, because it will bring over 1,000 jobs.

City Council passed the measure seven to one.

The only council member who opposed the plans was Peter Spadafore.
