LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing City Council has approved a plan to better regulate motorized scooters that popped up all over the capital city last summer.
During its Monday night meet, the City Council passed the ordinance, which now requires scooter companies, like Bird and Lime, to get a license through the city.
The companies will be charged a $2,500 annual licensing fee as well as a 10 cent surcharge per ride.
If needed, the ordinance also allows Lansing to impose a cap on the number of scooters available.
East Lansing's city council approved a similar ordinance last week.
