Monday night, the Lansing City Council approved Mayor Andy Schor's budget for the next fiscal year.

This is Mayor Schor's second executive budget.

The city's $226.7 million budget focuses on infrastructure.

Some of the key points include:

- $4.5 million for major street and bridge work.

- $2.8 million for local street repairs.

- $500,000 toward new sidewalks and trails.

- $300,000 to fund current sidewalk repairs.

"We're working on a new neighborhood position where again, we're gonna be in the neighborhoods working with citizens on all the great things that happen in our neighborhoods and we're out walking the neighborhoods every week," says Schor.

The next fiscal year's budget is a 2.8% increase from the 2019 adopted budget.

The Mayor formally submitted his budget recommendation to the Lansing City Council in March.
