Lansing city council deadlocks in a vote over new leadership. Currently, there is still no president or vice-president chosen.

There was a showdown Monday night in council chambers over who should be president. Council members Carol Wood and Kathie Dunbar were nominated but neither got at least five votes to secure the position.

There was heated debates and discussions even accusations toward each other. At one point every council member was nominated for either president or vice-president but nobody got the votes for the position.

The meeting dragged on for hours before it went into recess around Midnight Tuesday. Because council is at an impasse, the members will try to vote again on Thursday for the leadership positions. The meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
