Lansing City Attorney Janene McIntyre resigned Friday afternoon effective immediately.

McIntyre returned to City Hall Monday after taking a leave of absence without explanation.

In a release from Mayor Bernero's office, it was disclosed that she will be paid the balance of her contract ending December 31 of this year, including accrued benefits totaling approximately $160,000.

In the release Bernero praised McIntyre saying she has "served the city well."

"Lansing is better off because of her good work," said the mayor in the release.

Deputy City Attorney F. Joe Abood has been named interim city attorney.
